NPIA Missing Persons Bureau
The Missing Persons Bureau
is a specialist police unit which acts as a centre for the exchange
of information connected with the search for missing persons
both nationally and internationally. It is situated within the National Policing Improvement Agency (NPIA) at Bramshill, Hampshire. The Bureau works alongside police and related organisations in order to improve the services provided to missing persons investigations and to increase the effectiveness of the police response. It serves UK and overseas agencies and focuses
on cross-matching missing persons with unidentified bodies/persons as well as managing the UK Missing Kids Website and Child Rescue Alert.
It is not responsible for conducting any missing persons enquiries.
The Bureau has contacts with most government departments and
also the primary non-governmental organisations and charities
that deal with missing persons.
The Bureau has a quality control and liaison function in respect
of all cases placed on the website. It is also the central point
of contact for all cases featured on posters.
Enquiries about specific cases should be directed in the first instance to your local police station. |
